SAP Labs

Developer

How it all started

In August 2020, I embarked on my journey at SAP Labs as an Intern, eager to dive into the world of software development. As I delved into projects, I became instrumental in optimizing infrastructure efficiency by strategically migrating Postgres Database on Docker containers between BOSH VMs. This strategic move resulted in a remarkable 46% reduction in overall VM count and operational costs. Simultaneously, I took on the challenge of revitalizing the Service Fabrik open-source broker in Node.Js. Through meticulous restructuring and robust testing, I enhanced its functionality, fortifying its overall performance and reliability. These experiences marked the beginning of my impactful contributions to SAP Labs.

Becoming a Developer

Embarking on a journey from Associate Developer to a seasoned professional at SAP Labs has been a transformative experience. Armed with Java SpringBoot, I led the development, testing, and deployment of the ObjectStore, a Microservice offering Hyperscaler Storage Services on AWS, Azure, GCP, and AliCloud within the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).

My leadership skills were evident as I engineered and implemented a robust metering solution in AWS and Azure, driving an impressive 73% revenue growth, exceeding 100k euros/month. Eager to enhance efficiency, I crafted a cost-effective Message-Queue framework from scratch for asynchronous requests handling on Google Cloud Platform Storage Buckets.

Automation became my ally, streamlining software releases in Jenkins, resulting in a 30% reduction in release time and proactive mitigation of Critical Vulnerabilities & Exposures (CVE). Embracing Agile and Scrum methodologies, I pioneered the integration of a Custom Server-Side Encryption (SSE) feature, leveraging AWS Key Management Service (KMS) to fortify data security for Apple's S3 buckets.

My knack for innovation continued with the architecture of a system using Kubernetes to seamlessly showcase AWS S3 metrics from CloudWatch to Dynatrace, providing enhanced monitoring and insights. Implementing Azure Blob Storage expiration rules further demonstrated my commitment to precision and efficiency.

These achievements culminated in my well-deserved promotion to Developer, a testament to my outstanding contributions and mentorship to new hires.

Looking back, and forward

In reflection of my time at SAP, I'm filled with gratitude for the transformative experiences that have marked my journey. Immense thanks to my manager, Gauri Durge, for her steadfast guidance and mentorship, shaping my growth in profound ways. I extend my appreciation to Head, Juergen Staader for fostering an atmosphere that champions innovation and excellence.

To my exceptional teammates, your collective brilliance has made every challenge an opportunity and every success a shared victory. As I embrace the future, I carry forward the valuable lessons and skills acquired during this chapter. Here's to the extraordinary team and the exciting adventures that lie ahead!
